Kayak and Rappeling Protest – St. Johns Bridge – Portland, Oregon

I can almost taste the tears of Shell Oil executives when their billion-dollar oil venture gets waylaid by a bunch of hippies hanging from the Saint Johns Bridge, here in my town of Portland.

As of about 4:30 PST, today, July 30 2015, the Port Authority has closed the channel to all traffic–save the massive icebreaker bound for the Arctic. Kayakers were pushed to shore by long fishing gig poles–or they were captured and ticketed. The police are slowly lowering the rappellers down from the bridge.
